About our site

We continually invest in our premises and grounds and have ambitious plans for the future.

Our superb 12-acre site at Westbury-on-Trym provides a beautiful backdrop for learning, with plenty of green space for our students to relax and enjoy.

Junior School – Grange Court Road

  • Located in a popular residential neighbourhood since 1986, the school has gradually grown from its original foundation in response to demand for places

  • In 2008, a two-storey extension provided for new classrooms, an ICT suite, library, a light and airy assembly and performance hall, art studio and music practice areas

  • Outside we have a spacious play area complete with pagoda, climbing apparatus, green space, seating and a vegetable plot used by the junior gardening club

  • In 2015 we built two more spacious classrooms and for September 2017 we are creating two further Junior classrooms with exciting plans to develop the external play space

Senior School – Westbury Road

  • At the heart of our Senior School campus is Burfield House, built in the 19th century as a private family home

  • Our Pearson Library, opened in 2014, is a hive of activity, offering the latest technologies, together with a large selection of books, magazines and reference materials

  • Our Dining Hall and servery, also renovated in 2014, cater for all staff and junior and senior students

  • Music is based in a charming former stable block providing teaching rooms, rehearsal spaces and practice rooms. We also have a technology laboratory with specialist recording equipment and individual workstations with keyboards and Apple computers

  • We have six fully-equipped, modern science laboratories

  • Our Art Department has two large studio spaces, a computer suite and a library

  • Our Food Technology Suite was completely refurbished in 2012

  • We boast the best on-site sports facilities of any of Bristol’s day schools

  • Our international-standard, all-weather pitch provides a base for hockey, athletics and tennis. Our multi-use Sports Hall is home to netball, basketball, fencing, judo, dance, trampolining and gymnastics. We have two outdoor netball courts and separate grass pitches which we use for football, running, athletics and rounders

  • Following the merger with Redland High, we also have 27 acres of grounds at Golden Hill providing even more space for the girls to enjoy physical education.

  • Our light, contemporary Sixth Form Centre was built in 2011 and provides a university-style independent learning space for Years 12 and 13.

Future developments

  • From September 2017, our Senior School will have a new Performing Arts Centre and auditorium complete with flexible seating, modern lighting and sound systems

  • It will include six classrooms, music practice rooms and an area for serving refreshments at key events

  • Other projects in the pipeline include new music and dance facilities, and further modernisation of science laboratories
