Drama builds confidence, teaches teamwork and helps students develop social skills. It is also great fun, so we provide plenty of opportunities for girls to perform throughout the year. There is curricular drama for girls in Years 7 to 9 with a GCSE option in Years 10 to 11.
We employ a wide variety of teaching methods such as teacher in role, group and pair work and we use a mixture of devised and scripted material. Girls develop an understanding of the skills, principles, techniques and vocabulary related to Drama.
In addition girls can take part in extra-curricular drama clubs, and in school productions.
Most lessons take place in our Performing Arts Centre where there are opportunities to learn about lighting and technical skills. From we will have a huge, new state-of-the-art performance space when we officially unveil Redland Hall.
Many students opt to take private Speech and Drama lessons. They enjoy great success in their LAMDA examinations, in the annual Bristol Speech and Drama Festival and in regional and national competitions.
