ISI Inspection February 2013

We aim to ignite a real passion for and genuine interest in history by helping our students to develop knowledge and an understanding of the past.

History is a subject that teaches students to be more analytical, to make evidence-based judgements and to communicate effectively.

The History Department use a wide range of teaching and learning methods such as discussion, debate, role play, extended writing tasks, source analysis and thinking skills. They also use iPads, historical books, text books and DVDs to enhance learning.
Curriculum trips to Warwick Castle, the M Shed and the Living Museum, Dudley and opportunities to visit the Battlefields and Berlin, compliment what is taught in the classroom.

History is compulsory for Years 7 to 9 and can be taken as an option at GCSE.
