Careers Support

  • Careers education is part of the Lower Sixth General Studies Programme and the Head of Sixth Form and the Sixth Form tutors are always available for you to talk to.
  • As more girls consider going abroad to take their degree, we will help you consider a range of international options.
  • There is a well-stocked careers library in the Sixth Form Centre.
  • Red Maids’ work closely with the Independent Schools Careers Organisation. This brings opportunities to visit local employers and attend Open Days, seminars and lectures organised by industry and Higher Education Institutions.
  • Former Red Maids return to school to discuss their experiences at university and in their working lives and to answer your questions
  • There are opportunities to practise your interview technique with outside specialists in your field.
  • A biennial Careers Fair, run jointly with QEH, brings representatives from Higher Education, industry, commerce and the public services into school, giving you a greater awareness of opportunities open to you.
  • We hold a Higher Education Evening for you and your parents, with talks on Student Finance and the University Application Procedures.
  • After examinations in the summer term of Year 12, you will follow a specially designed programme of events intended to give you a head-start in the university decision-making process.
