Redmaids' High Sixth Form
"Every student is different, so whether your ambition is to be an astrophysicist, a lawyer, an artist or an engineer there is a place here for you. Our job is to help you develop your talents, wherever they may lie. This commitment to finding the right path for each individual is the reason we offer a choice between A Levels and the International Baccalaureate Diploma. We are fully committed to both routes and whichever you choose, you will benefit from the small class sizes and expert tuition which allow us to fully challenge and support each student.
We have a contemporary, self-contained Sixth Form Centre within the school’s 12-acre campus, with its own bright, open-plan common room, classrooms, careers library and study areas. Our Sixth Formers enjoy having their own space, but they also benefit from being part of a bigger, dynamic school community.
Of course sixth form life can be challenging, but that really is part of the point, and we find our students rise to that challenge with relish. Whether they are leading their House, directing a play, mentoring other students, captaining a sports team, running lower school discos, organising the Sixth Form ball, performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival or teaching in Cambodia, our students take the lead. They also excel academically and we actively encourage them to expand their knowledge, go beyond the curriculum and build the independent research skills that are vital at university. We offer extensive opportunities through our Athena Programme which gives all students the chance to challenge themselves intellectually.
Our students are truly amazing young women who leave feeling confident, independent and ready to make a difference in the world. But to get a real sense of what we offer, do come and visit. I look forward to hearing from you."
