The Athena Programme

The Athena Programme helps us to develop academic excellence through a range of additional stimulating and challenging opportunities.

'Athena' activities are open to all students, but we particularly encourage students who have been identified as gifted or talented or who have been awarded scholarships to take advantage of this programme.

Activities take place throughout the year and include visits from high profile speakers and published authors, one-to-one mentoring sessions, help with applying to Oxbridge and other top universities and entry to high profile events such as the International Future Problem Solving Programme, Model United Nations and Engineering Challenge Days. We also arrange numerous trips throughout the year to specialist music concerts, theatrical productions, talks, workshops, museums and art galleries across the country.

'Gifted' students are generally those who have outstanding academic abilities in one or more curriculum area.

'Talented' students are those who have outstanding abilities in practical areas of the curriculum including art and design, music, physical education or performing arts.
